                | | | | Background NESSCC is a unique regional inter-club competition, held every year during the summer months and is shot for both individual and club awards. Held over a series of five events, each club hosting a one day match and selecting the matches course of fire. The NESSCC is primarily a Gallery Rifle competition utilizing GRCF & GRSB rifles and, if time allows, long barrel revolver and long barrel pistol are also shot. The unique nature of the NESSCC allows for a club member to attend and shoot at least three events on the day, two centre fire and one small bore for a single fixed cost (currently £5 - reviewed at Pre-season NESSCC meeting) . If they shoot well on the day they stand to be awarded a prize for their Individual score. The competitors score can then also carry forward as part of their clubs score, the highest three scores per club forming their club team and overall score for the day. The championship culminates in various awards, highest aggregated score Top Gun titles and Top Club award. This format allows an introduction to competitive shooting without the stress of having to shoot well on the day. If you shoot well your score carries forward to form your clubs score, if not, you just enjoy the day and try again the next time. This is unusual as the team is formed after the competition is shot and the results are calculated. Within the NESSCC  we have 3 clubs competing using a variety of competitons some off the shelf NRA gallery matches, some made up one hour before the match. The current participating cubs are Arbroath Area Full Bore Gun Club, Tayside Pistol Shooting Muzzle Loading Club, and ourselves, AFBGC. Dundee Rifle & Pistol Club & Tayside Shooting Sports Club are invited to participate. This offers a great opportunity to visit the other regional clubs and enter into what is a very social event, meet like minded people and bore them to death about the new wiget you’ve just fitted on yer gun. It is an introduction to Gallery Rifle and pistol events that has nurtured and developed many to a sufficiently high level that allows entry  into the Scotland and GB Gallery Rifle squads. If we did have an entrance criteria for the NESSCC it would be an ability to enjoy shooting predominatly  fast and close targetry along side others rather than a blind ambition to win, although winning is nice and our club has won the title for six years.         AFBGC Members For members not too familiar with this competition you will find it not only a good introduction to competitive gallery rifle shooting it is also a  very social event giving you an opportunity to visit other North East clubs and meet their members. All AFBGC club members including probationary members are very welcome to come along and participate, especially members who have yet to visit the club on a NESSCC day. |
